Acceptable Use Policy

Effective: 22 May 2026

1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) sets out what is and is not permitted when using clan.me. It supplements our Terms of Service. Violation of this AUP may result in removal of your listing and permanent exclusion from the Service.

2. Permitted use

  • Browsing the server directory and viewing server pages
  • Submitting a Minecraft server you own or are authorised to list
  • Editing your server’s listing using your edit token
  • Embedding the clan.me widget on your own website or Discord
  • Requesting opt-out of player data collection via the opt-out page
  • Reporting abuse or requesting removal via abuse@clan.me

3. Prohibited conduct

False or misleading submissions

Do not submit servers you do not own or are not authorised to list. Do not provide false server names, descriptions, or contact information.

Infrastructure abuse

Do not attempt to overload, scrape at excessive rates, or otherwise interfere with the Service’s infrastructure. Do not submit servers for the purpose of amplifying polling traffic against a target.

Circumventing opt-out

Do not attempt to access, reconstruct, or distribute player data for players who have opted out. Do not use the Service as a mechanism to track individuals who have exercised their right to erasure.

Illegal content

Do not submit servers whose primary purpose is distributing illegal content, facilitating illegal activity, or targeting protected groups. Listings that violate applicable law will be removed immediately.

Intellectual property violations

Do not submit server names or descriptions that infringe third-party trademarks or copyrights. Mojang Studios and Microsoft trademarks must be used in accordance with Mojang’s brand and asset guidelines.

Spam

Do not submit duplicate listings or artificially inflate a server’s listing prominence through repeated submissions.

4. Server operator responsibilities

Server operators who appear in the directory are responsible for:

  • Ensuring their server’s own data practices (chat logs, plugin data, player records) comply with applicable laws including UK GDPR, COPPA, and any local data protection law relevant to their players
  • Complying with Mojang’s End User Licence Agreement and brand guidelines
  • Promptly informing us at abuse@clan.me if they believe listing their server is legally impermissible in their jurisdiction

5. Enforcement

We reserve the right to remove any listing, revoke any edit token, and block any IP address at our sole discretion. Removal requests from server owners are processed within 5 minutes. Abuse reports are reviewed within 24 hours.

To report a violation: abuse@clan.me

6. Changes

We may update this AUP at any time. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised AUP. Material changes will be noted by updating the effective date above.
